Celebrate Passover at Gesher

5 PASSOVER SEDERS AT GESHER - THE FIRST TWO NIGHTS ARE FULL.

WE STILL HAVE SPACE FOR THREE OTHER SEDERS. PLEASE READ BELOW.

First Night Community Seder: Friday, March 30, 5:30 pm  

This is the most important story that we live: the passage from slavery to freedom defines us as a people.  It cultivates our soulful search for justice.  We confront the Pharaohs of our day and frolic in freedom.  Gesher will provide the slave clothing, exit visas and a feast for our Passover seder journey from slavery to freedom.  Children and adults are invited into a participatory celebration. We will role play our jobs in Egypt, build pyramids, find our way through the desert, escape through the sea and feast in freedom, (while both seriously and humorously contemplating what this means to us.)  Bring pillows to sit on and warm clothing for sitting in a heated tent part of the evening.  All are welcome.  THIS SEDER IS FULL!!!!

Second Night Community Seder: Saturday, March 31, 4:00 pm (Especially for families with young children!)

Everyone knows "make believe."  Gesher will provide the slave clothing, exit visas and a feast for our Passover seder journey from slavery to freedom.  Children and adults are invited into a participatory celebration. We will role play our jobs in Egypt, build pyramids, find our way through the desert, escape through the sea and feast in freedom, (while both seriously and humorously contemplating what this means to us.)  Bring pillows to sit on and warm clothing for sitting in a heated tent part of the evening.  This seder is especially for families with children 8 and under.  All are welcome.  THIS SEDER IS FULL!!!

Men's Seder: Sunday, April 1, 4:00 pm

The return of a men's seder is no April fools' joke.  This is a “trial balloon” experience. It's been years since Gesher’s series of Jewish men's seders.  Rabbi Gary is looking to renew this Passover “journey” with Jewish men.  If you haven't looked around, we've grown a bit older, our journeys from “Egypt” are laden with meaning.  Let us share them and delight in connection with other Jewish men.  Men in the making (adolescents) are welcome to join.  A feast is assured. Adult Seder/Shabbat Dinner: Friday, April 6, 6:00 pm

This Passover Seder is not “encumbered” by children and thus offers adults the opportunity to dig deeper into meaningful memory - into the Jewish people’s and our own individual life journeys from our own “Egypts.” Plenty of joy, and a festive, nourishing meal is assured.  The Seder will be led by Rabbi Gary and Rabbi Laurie. Bring a pillow and dress warmly for Gesher’s Passover tent.  RSVP necessary

Women’s and Girls Seder: Saturday, April 7, 4pm

The journey of women and girls from Egypt to the Promised Land is one that must include our story as women (and girls) today, whether it is “me,too” or in the pain of seeing women who become leaders vilified, or in celebrating the  passion of those who cry out for justice, we live in a time when we must share the fight for redemption.  RSVP necessary

GETTING READY FOR PASSOVER

Passover Work Party:  Sun, March 18, 10 am - 2 pm 

 Join us in setting the stage for the Passover seder and ridding our home of chametz, transforming the kitchen. Come whenever is good for your schedule.

Let's Cook for Passover:  Sunday, March 25, 10 am - 2 pm

Hands-on Fun for all ages: make charoset, matza balls, matza kugel, and Rabbi Gary's famous homemade Pacific NW gefilte fish.  Passover storytelling as we work! Come whenever is good for your schedule.

Bedikat Chametz: Searching for the last leavened products before Passover. Thursday, March 29, 7 - 7:45 pm. Families with Young Children are especially welcome to this Search for chametz , the last vestiges of leavened food not eaten on Passover.  We use candles and feathers for searching, and make sure to find some tasty treats before we burn the rest of the chametz in a bonfire.
